Serenity Thompson is a dancer, creator, and cultural storyteller whose movement speaks louder than words. A senior at Hunter College pursuing a dual degree in Economics with a minor in Japanese, Serenity combines discipline, academic excellence, and creative leadership to make her mark quietly but powerfully. With years of experience teaching Hip-Hop, Modern, Ballet, and African dance, she has developed a trauma-informed approach that uses movement for healing, cultural pride, emotional regulation, and joy. From leading Gen-K’s K-pop Dance Team as captain to teaching youth both in-person and through self-filmed tutorials, Serenity brings depth, intention, and rhythm to every step. Her program, “She Moves Quietly,” celebrates young women who don’t seek the spotlight, but still shine. She doesn’t need to be loud to be seen. She doesn’t perform for approval. She flows in her rhythm; an inner rhythm rooted in faith, discipline, and joy. Beyond dance, Serenity’s world is fueled by anime, Ramen, K-pop, singing, and the quiet confidence of someone who knows who she is even when the world isn’t watching. Through her work with H.O.P.E., she invites other young women to express, heal, and rise without ever raising their voices. "She moves quietly… and somehow, the whole world still notices."
She Moves Quietly
This program honors movement as medicine; healing through motion, rhythm, and presence. Led by dancer and visionary Serenity Thompson, She Moves Quietly invites girls and young women into a space where they can express, release, and reclaim their strength without shouting for approval. Serenity’s dance sessions are designed to awaken internal validation, cultural pride, emotional expression, and joy. In a world that demands noise, she teaches them to move with power and grace even in silence. Program Focus:
